MEGA MONSTER 140m

Mega Monster 140 miles.

Place: The Forestry Center, Rosliston, DE12 8JX. Registration:7am.

Start Time: 7.30am. Feed Stations Weaver Hill, The Courtyard Hope,  and Bradbourne.

Climbing 10,000ft

If you are looking for a challenge this is the ride for you, steady building from the moment you leave the Forestry Centre, ultimately taking you through the White and Dark Peaks with Strava start and finish points for the KOM/QOM. Enjoy the route towards Hope Valley which has tough and dramatic climbs through the limestone gorge of Winnats Pass. Winnats Pass is one of the most magnificent, characterful and atmospheric climbs of the peak district, and is a must-ride if you’re looking for this type of challenge. At 1 mile in length and an average of 12%, it’s a toughie from bottom to top; a challenge made harder by the ever-steepening grade as you scale the climb. You’ll enter the limestone cleft that makes Winnant such a popular ride, and it’s here you begin to feel the steeper parts of the hill. Riding through the canyon, the stunning road pitches further until you hit a steady 20% in the last 656ft.

Hopefully, you will be able to take in some of the magnificent views and amazing countryside of the area. This year we are bypassing Ashbourne, so if you are a frequent rider please note the revised route which heads around part of Carsington Water before heading for the return journey towards the forestry center.

WHAT PREVIOUS RIDERS SAY ABOUT THE MIDLAND MONSTER

“Great event yesterday guys. Route, feed stations, Marshall’s and motorbike were excellent as usual.

Only scope for improvement could be some electrolyte sports drink tablets or powder which can be added to the water at the feed stops. I guess it’s personal taste but the blue stuff in the bottle was a bit interesting on the palate”.

“See you next year!”

Phil Read

“A very enjoyable first sportive with you today. Well signposted and lots of friendly marshalls pointing us in the right direction. Super weather too!  Thankyou to all”.

Alison Westley

“Just a massive thanks for a great event on Sunday. It was my first ride and what a superb and well organised day. I’ll be back next year”.

Simon Rhodes

“Thanks for yesterday chaps. It was very well organised and all the staff were excellent, and I met some great riders along the way. The sticker with our names and timing were a great touch, and the food at the finish was a godsend!”

Mick Davidson
